“Embracing Your Inner Superhero – Meeting the Emotional Challenges of the Cancer Journey with Skill, Resilience, and Compassion” workshop will be held from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave. This is the second workshop in series of three about cancer survivorship. The workshop will explore ways to work with common human reactions to emotional distress.
Workshop presenters will be Janet Curry, MA, LPC, founder of Stillpoint Counseling and Mindfulness Training, and Oley Smith, Dipl. O.M., L.Ac., founder of Open Heart Acupuncture and certified teacher of integral qigong and tai chi.
The workshop is sponsored by Blueprints of Hope, a local nonprofit, and has been partially support by a grant from the Colorado Cancer Coalition, Colorado Cancer Fund and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
The event is open to cancer patients, survivors, their friends, caregivers and health care professionals. Cost is $10 per person, which includes lunch, catered by Cyprus Café. Scholarships are available. Space is limited. Register online at www.blueprintsofhope.org or call 403-3711.
