Marsha Porter-Norton, a candidate for La Plata County commissioner (District 2), will host a food drive from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday near the Mill Street Inn, 118 W. Mill St.
Community members may drop off nonperishable foods, which will be delivered to food banks serving Bayfield, Ignacio and the southeastern areas of the county.
Porter-Norton is hosting the food drive in lieu of public meet and greets or fundraisers because of the high need for food in the community.
