The La Plata Archuleta Cattlemen gathered at the Cundiff Ranch on CR 502 last month for their annual picnic. Cattlemen President Wayne Semler, standing left, addressed the group after a lunch of barbecued tofu. Just kidding. While it was mostly a social event, topics discussed included the drought, rising beef prices, and leases on federal lands for livestock. The cattlemen and Cowbelles will host the chuckwagon cookoff on July 26 for Durango Fiesta Days.
