The Colorado Department of Transportation will perform crack-sealing this week and next week on U.S. Highway 160, south of Durango, from the junction of Highway 3 to the Farmington Hill intersection.
Crack-sealing is essential in maintaining the road surface, prevents moisture from seeping under the asphalt and prolongs the life of the highway.
The two-week road maintenance operation will take place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Crews will work on the eastbound lanes from Wednesday to Friday.
Crews will work on the westbound lanes April 5-9.
Drivers will encounter lane shifts, guided by signage and cones. Travelers can expect periodic delays and should allow themselves extra travel time. A speed reduction to 40 mph will be in place and drivers should slow down and use extreme caution when approaching the work zone. Drivers are urged to be aware of work crews and heavy equipment.
