On March 17, we celebrated the real life of St. Patrick. He grew up on a coastal farm in England. Pirates captured him and took him to Ireland as a slave when he was 16 years old. He hated the Irish, missed his family and longed to be free.
In his despair, he prayed to Jesus for hope and peace.
Like the Grinch, his heart changed from hate to love. He eventually returned home, but his love for the Irish took him back to Ireland even against his family’s wishes.
Back in Ireland, Patrick was fearless in serving the Irish people for 40 years. God’s passion through Patrick transformed Ireland.
Patrick, 381 – 461 A.D.
