A cement truck crashed on the south side of U.S. Highway 160 at the intersection of County Road 229 Friday morning. Initial investigations indicated the driver swerved off the road to avoid a collision with a car that pulled out from County Road 229 in front of the truck. The driver of the truck was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries.
A cement truck crashed on the south side of U.S. Highway 160 at the intersection of County Road 229 Friday morning. The crash caused some temporary traffic delays along the highway.
Traffic on U.S. Highway 160 east of Durango was rerouted for a short time early Friday after cement truck crashed.
The eastbound truck rolled over at mile point 91.6, just east of Elmore’s Corner, closing the eastbound lane for about 40 minutes.
The driver apparently swerved to avoid a collision with a car that pulled in front of it from County Road 229.
Traffic was rerouted onto Colorado Highway 172 while emergency crews removed the driver from the truck and took him to Mercy Regional Medical Center.
The extent of his injuries is unclear.
Colorado Department of Transportation spokesperson Lisa Schwantes said traffic should not be impacted as crews recover the vehicle.
