Center of Southwest Studies to host virtual lecture

Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College will host a free lecture “The Life and Legacy of Buffalo Bill” at 4 p.m. Wednesday via Zoom.

Historian and author Steve Friesen will share a timeline of William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody’s life and legacy, illuminated by stories and historic photographs. The presentation will include information about Buffalo Bill’s Colorado connections, his relationship with the Lakota people and his life as a “foodie” – all three of which are relatively unexplored and unknown.

Steve Friesen was the director of the Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave outside of Denver for 22 years. He holds a master’s degree in American Folk Culture from the State University of New York. He published “Buffalo Bill: Scout, showman, visionary” in 2011.
