Ceremonies will honor veterans on Memorial Day

Events will be held in Durango, Ignacio
A Memorial Day ceremony will honor veterans of all wars at 11 a.m. Monday at Greenmount Cemetery in Durango.

The Durango Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and Allison-Tiffany Cemetery will hold Memorial Day activities Saturday and Monday.

Saturday

VFW Post No. 4031 will distribute buddy poppies at local businesses to bring awareness to veteran services.

Monday

10 a.m.: Vietnam War service, Iris Park, 1234 Camino del Rio.11 a.m.: Memorial Day ceremony for veterans of all wars at Greenmount Cemetery, 900 Cemetery Road. After the Greenmount ceremony, a wreath ceremony will be held at the walking bridge by Rotary Park, 1565 East Second Ave. The wreath will be laid in the Animas River to honor Americans who died at sea.

11 a.m.: Memorial Day ceremony at the Allison-Tiffany Cemetery, 1035 County Road 329, in Ignacio. Services will include music, visiting and honoring veterans. Everyone is welcome.12:30 to 2 p.m.: Open house at VFW Post No. 4031, 1550 Main Ave.3 to 5:30 p.m.: Southwest Civic Winds performance at Rotary Park, 1565 East Second Ave.
