Chalk art does not equal support for premeditated murder

The letter, “Leftist crazies now support premeditated murder” (Herald, Jan. 19), is exactly what I picture when I think of the word “propaganda.”

Not only does the writer not include a single legitimate statistic regarding his claims, but he is going as far as to spread misinformation regarding the goals and the mission behind Food Not Bombs, the Durango Coalition, and the facts of the genocide in Gaza, as recognized by the majority of countries in the United Nations.

First, please note that FNB and the Durango Coalition do not support Hamas' attack on Israel. This lie has been spread far and wide by Zionists trying to suppress the Palestinian people and their supporters. Now the same lie is being used to justify the statement made by the letter writer calling the war a “full-scale genocide of the Israeli Jews.”

To put the misinformation into perspective: “Israel’s war in Gaza has killed at least 46,788 Palestinians and wounded 110,453 since Oct. 7, 2023. At least 1,139 people were killed in Israel” as stated by the reporters at Al Jazeera.

Second, to claim that a sidewalk drawing equates to the support of premeditated murder is a stretch to say the least. While I see where this argument came from, please note the state of the American healthcare system is the reason for this response to Luigi's assassination of the UnitedHealthcare CEO.

“Viva Luigi” and another tag in support of Luigi's actions are not the support of murder, but instead the drive to dismantle the broken systems to which we all adhere.
