CJ Fuss applies water to the ice rink at Chapman Hill before it opens for the season.
The Chapman Hill ice rink, 500 Florida Road, will open Oct. 7.
The annual hockey day and gear swap will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on opening day, with a barbecue offered at 11 a.m. and free ice skating until 1 p.m.
People are asked to drop off gear for the gear swap at 9 a.m.
