Chapter FX of PEO has awarded four scholarships to local graduating high school seniors this year. There were 17 applicants for the Wanda Greve Memorial Scholarship.
Heleny Zacamolpa, Animas High School, will attend Fort Lewis College and major in biomedical engineering. Clara Wolf, Animas High School, will attend University of Lynchburg in Virginia and major in nursing. Emma Candelaria, Bayfield High School, will attend Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction and major in elementary education. Liana Bygel, Durango High School, will attend Arizona State University and major in nursing.
Funds for the local scholarships are raised by Chapter FX through the sales of poinsettias, which are grown at Four Seasons Nursery in Dolores. Prepaid orders are taken from mid-September through early November and distribution is during the week after Thanksgiving.
