Charges against Lachelt are not valid

Early in the recall campaign against Gwen Lachelt, the two main arguments put forth were her alleged poor attendance at commissioners meetings and the ethical charges against her.

Neither of those charges are valid.

Lachelt has attended over ninety percent of the meetings during her tenure and most of her absences were due to out of town travel on La Plata County business.

So far as the ethics charges go, they were investigated by an impartial panel and she was exonerated. Recently, those wanting to recall her have joined forces with the anti-planning group. They fail to see that adequate planning at the county level is in everyone’s interest. They are using the planning issue as a means to attack a single commissioner.

I hope that the people of La Plata County will support a commissioner doing an excellent job and refuse to sign the recall petition.
