Chase brought readers amazing prose

As a writer, I wanted to give a public round of applause to Chase Olivarius-McAllister, who apparently suffered at the hands of some of the, er, more immature male staff at the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office recently. I first caught on to how good she was during her coverage of the Arc of History scandal(s). Amazing prose! A careful balance of elegant humor with factual reporting!

The Herald, and Durango, are lucky to have her. I make a point of finding her byline now, no matter what she’s covering.

Editor’s note: Chase Olivarius-McAllister has taken her career to the next stage. Her last day at the Herald was Aug. 31.
