Elected officials should be held to high standards in ethics, experience, commitment and accountability. I usually abstain from sharing my opinion on candidates and turn to their resumes, but I feel it is imperative that I speak up as to whom we elect for county treasurer.
Colton Black took it upon himself to challenge his opponent and stated voters have the right to transparency. I do agree with him, but I also think the public has the right to know that he has not provided that same transparency about his background or qualifications. It takes but a few moments to compare what he claims to be true on the Financial Regulatory Authority website.
It is the community’s responsibility to do our own research on candidates to choose the right person for elected positions. We should be asking ourselves: can we trust and ensure he is fit to be a county official who handles our money and government monies? As voters, we should not be distracted by dirty politics nor smear campaigns, and continue to focus on what the job of County Treasurer entails and what it takes to make sure the job is done properly.
I urge the community to visit brokercheck.finra.org/individual/summary/6709536.
We should retain Allison Aichele as county treasurer to maintain quality and accountability with the proper qualifications and experience.
