I am so amazed by the number of people that I see throwing their grocery receipts away without even looking at them.
I peruse mine very carefully and find so many mistakes on a regular basis (average three out of four shopping trips per month). “Buy one get one free,” where both are charged for, sale prices that are not charged correctly and discounts on quantities of items that are not recognized are just a few of the errors I find.
Customer service in most cases is good about correcting these errors and giving a refund, but it is a hassle to have to return to the store with your receipt and proof of the errors. Sometimes I have to return with the items purchased to prove that the errors were made.
I have not kept track of the dollar amount of the incorrect charges that I have found, but it is a considerable amount. Groceries are expensive enough without having these mistakes continually and they never seem to be in my favor!
Consumers, check your receipts and let the stores know that they are making mistakes. Albertsons has been notorious for this since they changed over to Safeway brand.
