Bayfield has a lot to be proud of!
Not only did the dance team win state, we were the only school with both Pom and Cheer teams making it to the state finals! Bayfield's cheer team competed against 15 2A/3A coed schools!
They placed higher then they ever have since 1999, when they took state!
Our cheer team made it into the finals on Friday, Dec 8, where the top four teams advanced to compete Saturday night for the state title.
Bayfield was well-recognized for their brave team of two last year, when they surprised the crowd with elite stunts and skilled tumbles. They heard nothing but amazement when they left the floor!
Assistant Coach Kira Nash and I knew the team had a shot at making it to the finals this year, but we were aware it was going to be a tough competition. We knew our athletes were going to have to fight for every point. The teams they were up against had multiple national championships and state titles under their belts.
Our Bayfield team stepped up. I am so happy our seniors get to go out as State Finalists!
This year's team worked extremely hard at becoming a top-notch cheer team while performing their duties of supporting our teams here at Bayfield High and bringing school spirit together.
This is not an easy task, these athletes work hard year-round to make Bayfield a better place!
