Dr. Karen Cheser, superintendent of Durango School District 9-R, has been honored with the 2025 EmpowerED Digital Superintendent of the Year Award by the Consortium for School Networking and the American Association of School Administrators.
This prestigious national award recognizes superintendents who demonstrate exceptional leadership in leveraging technology to transform education.
Cheser received the award during the annual CoSN conference held April 3 in Seattle. The selection committee highlighted her commitment to integrating real-world STEM learning opportunities and fostering a culture of innovation within the district. Under her leadership, Durango School District 9-R has implemented systems that not only enhance communication with stakeholders but also encourage feedback to drive continuous improvement.
