I was shocked to read that a medical professional, a doctor, argued against our children wearing masks at school this fall. The overwhelming majority of health care professionals recommend children wear masks in school this year until all of our children can be vaccinated. It’s a simple thing.
The never-ending, grating mask argument must end. The unvaccinated and anti-maskers are now targeting our younger children by their obstinacy. I ask, who does that?
A clear majority of our community has risen to the call to end COVID-19 just by simply getting vaccinated. The evidence is clear. Vaccines save lives. The unvaccinated – the majority of whom polls show are vaccine refusers – are threatening all the gains our community has made. Why? If you truly have questions about the safety or efficacy of the vaccine, there are many resources in our area to seek answers, including the Upper Pine River Fire District. Those guys are local heroes who stepped up to provide testing and vaccines early on. If you have questions or an ideological opposition to the vaccine or are still a COVID-19 denier, the trained professionals at Upper Pine can likely address your concerns.
Our new 9-R superintendent should do the job she was hired for, which is to educate and protect our children, including mask-wearing. And, doctor, I sure hope I don’t need your services, because I will need to seek medical help elsewhere.
