Chimney Rock Interpretative Association in conjunction with the U.S. Forest Service will offer a new flora tour Thursday.

The tour travels up to the two pinnacles and examines the variety of flora observable on the way up to the top. More than 26 different plants – all useful to the ancient people who lived there – will be seen during the short hike, which is less than a half-mile. Each plant will be examined for its usefulness to the various tribes who called Chimney Rock home.

Chimney Rock National Monument is located 17 miles west of Pagosa Springs and 3 miles south of U.S. Highway 160 on Colorado Highway 151. CRIA is a nonprofit organization that runs the daily operations and interpretive programs at the monument in partnership with the Forest Service and San Juan National Forest.
