Firewise of Southwest Colorado is offering a chipper rental rebate for people who want to reduce potential wildfire fuel on their property.
The program, which began May 1, is available to residents of La Plata, Archuleta, Dolores, San Juan and Montezuma counties.
It reimburses people the lesser of $100 a day or 50 percent of chipper rental cost or 50 percent of what a mitigation company charges.
Homeowner associations that sponsor a chipping day can receive the lesser of $250 a day or 50 percent of the chipper rental cost.
It’s a first come, first served basis and the offer will expire Oct. 31 unless funds run out sooner.
