Choice on BOCES’s future pre-determined

Durango School District 9-R superintendent’s decision to leave the Board of Cooperative Educational Services is a typical underhanded administrative move. Superintendent Snowberger says, “there will be no final determination until the audit is received” but, believe me, it’s a done deal.

In similarly dishonest administrative fashion, he ordered a supposedly impartial audit of the Information Technology department – an impartial audit run by an old Front Range crony that came to the pre-determined conclusions that Snowberger wanted. He then used this so-called audit to dump longtime employees from the department, cut the pay of others and introduce an element of chaos into district IT services.

You can bet he will try and hire back the dedicated former BOCES employees – at bargain basement salaries. And you know services to some of the most vulnerable students will necessarily be curtailed.

He makes a great show of running an impartial process, but the result has already been decided.
