Christmas in Vallecito raises funds for families in need

Christmas at Vallecito is a weekend put on by locals each year to bring fun to the valley and raise money for families in need during the holidays.

We host several events throughout the weekend. Our main event, the Cookie Shack, has been the cornerstone of why Christmas at Vallecito was created. The Cookie Shack began in 2009 with a vision of kids selling homemade Christmas cookies beautifully plated for parties or gifts, with the intent of giving the money to other children and families in need. The children of the valley work to promote and sell the cookies that are all homemade and baked by the giving women of the Vallecito Valley.

This year, thanks to these women bakers and our incredible kiddos, we were able to raise almost $1,500 in seven hours!

Generous donations and giving hearts helped us deliver additional cookies to Evenings Porch in Bayfield for residents to enjoy. The kids also dropped off a check for the Pine River Shares backpack program, which helps feed students over the weekends. The Christmas at Vallecito committee also donated cookies to the bake sale at Brenda's Old West Cafe to benefit Jolean Scott, the little girl who recently lost her fight with brain cancer, and donated funds to her family, as well.

Further donations Will be made to our local emergency medical technicians and the women's shelter. We are proud as a valley to come together and help families in need, but to also be showing our children the importance of giving back through the magic of giving.
