La Plata County government has tapped Chuck Stevens as assistant county manager, effective Oct. 30.
Stevens worked as applications manager in the La Plata County information technology department since 2015, and previously served 25 years in the U.S. Marine Corps as a senior leader, where he managed organizations and supervised large numbers of staff in various roles. He was recognized as a “Top Tech Executive” by San Diego Magazine for leadership and named Distance Education Instructor of the Year for the USMC College of Distance Education and Training.
Stevens holds a bachelor’s degree in science in management from University of Phoenix, a master’s degree in business communication from Jones International University and has continued his education in leadership development at Stanford University.
“Chuck possesses exceptional leadership, managerial, personnel and communication skills,” Joanne Spina, La Plata County manager, said in a news release. “He reflects our organizational values of honesty, integrity, respect, stewardship and accountability, and shares our collective dedication to public service. I’m confident he will be a great complement to our management team.”
