City announces holiday schedule

The city of Durango announces these closures for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays:

  • City administrative offices will be closed on Dec. 24, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. This includes City Hall, Community Development and Engineering, The Police Station and Substation, The Transit Center, Greenmount Cemetery, Parks and Recreation administrative offices, and the Santa Rita Water Reclamation Facility administrative offices.
  • The Recreation Center will be closed Dec. 24, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. The Recreation Center will be open from 5:45 a.m. to noon Dec. 24 and Dec. 31.
  • Chapman Hill Ice Rink will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Go to DurangoGov.org/ChapmanHill to view schedules.
  • Chapman Ski Hill will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Go to DurangoGov.org/ChapmanHill to view ski hill holiday hours.
  • Durango Gymnastics will be closed for classes and gym rentals Dec. 16 to Jan. 1. Classes resume Jan. 2.
  • Durango Public Library will be closed Dec. 24, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
  • Durango-La Plata County Airport will be open with regularly scheduled commercial service Dec. 24 and Dec. 25. Travelers are encouraged to arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes before scheduled departure. Airport administrative offices will be closed Dec. 24 and Dec. 25.
  • Durango Transit will not operate Dec. 24, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Transit will resume regular service Dec. 26 and Jan. 2. The Transit Center will also be closed on Dec. 24, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. The Fort Lewis College Morning Commuter Shuttle will not operate Dec. 16 to Jan. 15 in conjunction with the college’s winter break.
  • Trash and recycling: There will be no commercial pickup on Dec. 25. Collections will continue one day later than residents’ normal pickup day beginning Dec 26. to Dec. 28. The Recycling Center will be closed on De. 25 and Jan. 1.
  • Parking at meters downtown will be free Dec. 24 and Dec. 25. Note: There is no on-street parking in the downtown area from 2 to 5 a.m. at any time. Parking at meters downtown will also be free on Jan. 1. Vehicles parked on downtown streets during these hours may be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense. Free overnight parking is available in city lots. Vehicles must be moved by 7 a.m.
