The city of Durango has contracted with Bixby Electric for a traffic signal pole replacement project at the southeast corner of College Drive and East Third Avenue.
The project has been rescheduled because of weather and will now start Tuesday, and is anticipated to conclude by June 21. Eastbound traffic will be reduced to one lane and the traffic control will be set at 8:30 a.m. and removed by 4:30 p.m. to reduce impacts during peak traffic periods.
The traffic signal pole was structurally damaged in a recent accident. The damage is significant enough to require pole replacement. This project will also allow the curb and sidewalk to be brought up to current ADA standards.
Pedestrian traffic will be diverted around the construction site using traffic-control signs. Businesses near the construction will remain open. Pedestrian access will be coordinated by the contractors and businesses. Drivers are encouraged to use caution when traveling in the area.
