The city of Durango has contracted with Horizon Environmental Services for weed abatement beginning Monday through July 12 in the areas of the Lift Station at River Oaks Drive, along Animas View Drive, Dallabetta Park, Roosa Avenue and the rock retaining wall at Riverview Sports Complex.
Follow-up spot spraying at the treated areas will continue through late July.
The herbicides that will be used are: Milestone, 2-4 D Amine, Panoramic 2 SL, Vista XRT, Garlon 4 Ultra and Sureguard SC depending on species. Applications are conducted to improve the quality of the right-of-ways, parks and open spaces.
The weed control is repeatedly tested and approved by the Environmental Protection Agency, and Horizon Environmental Services is licensed by the Colorado Department of Agriculture.
