The city of Durango announces its schedule of closings for the Christmas holiday:
City administrative offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. This includes City Hall, River City Hall, Police Station and Substation, Transit Center, Greenmount Cemetery and Parks and Recreation administrative offices.Durango Community Recreation Center will be closed Thursday and Friday.Chapman Hill Ice Rink will be open for public skate from 10 to 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 1 to 2 p.m. and 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday. It will be closed Friday. Reservations are required at www.DurangoGov.org/chapmanhill.Chapman Ski Hill will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and will be closed Friday.Durango Gymnastics will be closed for classes and gym rentals Monday to Jan. 3. Classes resume Jan. 4.Durango Public Library will be closed Thursday and Friday. Curbside service will resume Dec. 29.The Durango-La Plata County Airport will be open with regularly scheduled commercial service Thursday and Friday. Airport administrative offices will be closed Thursday and Friday.Durango Transit will not operate Thursday and Friday. The Transit Center will be closed. The Fort Lewis College Morning Commuter Shuttle will not operate Dec. 14 to Jan. 8 in conjunction with FLC’s winter break.Parking at meters downtown will be free Friday. There is no on-street parking in the downtown area from 2 to 5 a.m. any time. Vehicles parked on downtown streets during these hours may be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense. Free overnight parking is available in city lots. Vehicles must be moved by 7 a.m.There will be no commercial or residential trash or recycle collection Friday. Friday’s commercial and residential trash and recycle collection will be picked up Thursday.The Recycle Center will be closed Thursday and Friday and will reopen from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
