Here is the schedule of city closings for the New Year’s holiday:
City administrative offices will be closed Wednesday. This includes City Hall, River City Hall, Police Station and Substation, Transit Center, Greenmount Cemetery and Parks and Recreation administrative offices.
The Durango Community Recreation Center will be open from 5:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday. The aquatics areas will close at 11:30 a.m. Parks and Recreation administrative offices will be open from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday. The rec center will be closed Wednesday.
Chapman Hill Ice Rink will be open for public skate from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday. It will be closed Wednesday. Chapman Ski Hill will be open from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday and will be closed Wednesday.

Durango Gymnastics will be closed for classes and gym rentals Dec. 23 through Jan. 5. Classes will resume Jan. 6. For the drop in schedule, call 375-7390.
The Durango Public Library will close at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and will be closed Wednesday. Fort Lewis Mesa and Sunnyside branches will be closed Dec. 23 through Friday in conjunction with the Durango School District 9-R break.
The Durango-La Plata County Airport will be open with regularly scheduled commercial service Wednesday. Travelers are encouraged to arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes before scheduled departure. Airport administrative offices will be closed Wednesday.
Durango Transit will not operate Wednesday. The Transit Center will also be closed.
Parking at meters downtown will be free Wednesday. There is no on-street parking in the downtown area 2 to 5 a.m. at any time. Vehicles parked on downtown streets during these hours may be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense. Free overnight parking is available in city lots. Vehicles must be moved by 7 a.m.
There will be no commercial or residential trash or recycling service Wednesday. Wednesday’s commercial trash and recycling will be picked up Thursday. Wednesday’s residential curbside trash will be picked up Thursday. Wednesday’s residential curbside recycling will be picked up Jan. 8.
The Recycle Center will be closed Wednesday and will reopen from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday.
