The city of Durango announces its schedule for the Fourth of July holiday:
City administrative offices will be closed, including City Hall, River City Hall, Police Station and Substation, Transit Center, Greenmount Cemetery and the Parks and Recreation administrative offices.Parks and Recreation areas will be open: The Community Recreation Center will be open from 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the aquatics area closing at 1:30 p.m. Durango Gymnastics and Chapman Hill will be closed. Lake Nighthorse Recreation Area will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.The Durango-La Plata County Airport administrative offices will be closed. The airport will be operating normally.Durango Public Library and all library branches will be closed.Commercial and residential trash and recycling pickup will occur as scheduled. The Recycle Center will be closed.Durango Transit Service will not operate Thursday. The Transit Center and cashier window will be closed. Durango Transit will operate a free shuttle between the fairgrounds and the Transit Center for the fireworks from 5 to 10 p.m. running about every 20 minutes.Parking at meters will be free downtown Thursday.
