City of Durango announces weed abatement schedule

The city has contracted with Horizon Environmental Services for noxious weed abatement. The herbicides that will be used, depending on noxious weed species, are Envoy plus and GrazonNext HL.

Applications are conducted to improve the quality of rights-of-way, parks and open spaces in the city’s system. The weed control is repeatedly tested and approved by the Environmental Protection Agency. Horizon Environmental Services is licensed by the Colorado Department of Agriculture.

Spraying will start Monday and continue through July 3. Areas that will be treated for noxious weeds are:

Chapman Hill.Right-of-way along East Second Avenue between 29th Street and 32nd Street.Cundiff Park Area.High Bridge river take out.Moore Parks Shop and Greenmount Cemetery

Follow-up spot spraying at treated areas will continue through July.
