The city of Durango has announced these closures and changes for New Year’s Day:
City Administrative Offices will be closed Tuesday, including offices at City Hall, River City Hall, Durango Police Station, Parks and Recreation administrative offices and Greenmount Cemetery.Durango-La Plata County Airport will be open with regularly scheduled commercial service Tuesday. The administration office will be closed. Durango Transit will not operate Tuesday, and the Transit Center will be closed.Parking: Metered parking will be free Tuesday in the Central Business District. Motorists are reminded that there is no on-street parking in the downtown area between 2 and 5 a.m. Vehicles parked on the streets downtown between these hours may be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense. Any city lot may be used after 5 p.m. for free parking overnight.The Durango Public Library will close at 5:30 p.m. Monday and will be closed Tuesday. The Fort Lewis Mesa and Sunnyside branches will reopen Jan. 7 in conjunction with the Durango School District 9-R schedule.Durango Community Recreation Center will be open from 5:30 a.m. to noon Monday, with the Aquatics area closing at 11:30 a.m. The facility will be closed Tuesday and will reopen with regular hours Wednesday.Chapman Hill Ice Rink will be open Monday from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. for public skating. The rink will be closed Tuesday and reopen with regular hours Wednesday. Trash and Recycling Services: There will be no trash or recycling service Tuesday. Routes will resume Wednesday. Tuesday’s commercial and residential trash will be picked up Wednesday. Tuesday’s residential recycle routes will be picked up the next week on Jan. 8. The Recycle Center will be closed Tuesday and reopen at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
