The city of Durango will hold the ninth annual Winter Bike to Work Day from 7 to 9 a.m. Friday in front of Studio &, 1027 Main Ave.

There will be free breakfast snacks, coffee and hot chocolate from Bread, Carver Brewing Co. and Desert Sun Coffee Roasters. Take your bike for a free bicycle micro-tune from Pedal the Peaks. Enter to win raffle prizes such as Smith winter goggles and helmets, Osprey Packs, Hydroflasks and Buffs. There will also be free Winter Bike to Work Day Stanley mugs, sponsored by Backcountry Experience and Desert Sun Coffee, while supplies last.

In conjunction with Winter Bike to Work Day, the city of Durango will host the Winter Business Commuter Challenge from Monday through Friday. The challenge is a friendly competition among local organizations to see which can be the cleanest and greenest in transportation.

To win, an organization needs to earn the most points by riding the bus, biking, walking or carpooling more than other like-sized businesses.

To sign up for the Winter Business Commuter Challenge, email the organization’s name and total number of employees to multimodal@durangogov.org or call 375-4901 no later than Friday.
