Civility should start at the Herald itself

So let me get this right: The Herald, of all papers, is lecturing us on civility and how Trump has led us down the road to name calling and civil disorder.

The Herald is demanding all of us common folk to demand responsible and civil behavior from our elected officials, and we need to model that behavior in our own political activism and everyday discourse.

Now folks, you can’t make this stuff up! The Herald just came out with an op-ed that called out certain members of Trump’s administration with the derogatory term “court Jews” because they didn’t follow the progressive talking points about Charlottesville. Pretty civil, Herald.

A Democratic state senator from Missouri called for the assassination of President Trump on social media. Nancy Pelosi and Maxine Waters call President Trump all sorts of demeaning names. It seems the Herald doesn’t have a problem as long as the left bashes the right.

Constant political cartoons by the Herald demonizing Trump and those that voted for him, is civil by the Herald’s standards? I can’t recall in eight years where Obama was set upon in a cartoonish way by this paper.

Please Herald, save us the sanctimonious lecture on civility and responsible behavior. We must do better? Maybe start in the Herald’s own house!
