What is wrong with the La Plata County commissioners? The people of Bayfield are losing a wonderful commodity to our community.
Not renewing the lease for the Bayfield title and registration office is offensive to those of us who call Bayfield home. I purposefully chose to live out here; I choose not to travel to Durango very often.
It is a choice to support my local post office, library, grocery, auto parts store, hardware store and title office. It is a choice to be part of this community.
Not that I have anything against the Durango community, it just wasn’t the community I chose to be a part of.
Closing the local office is a disservice and a slap in the face to those who live here. We are a part of La Plata County, and forcing us to travel to Durango to do something that can be done here is another thing that I will have to waste gas to do. So much for thinking green, guys.
It is time to stop thinking that we all enjoy coming to “town,” fighting the traffic and wasting hard-earned money and time on a 40-plus mile trip.
Proud of my own town, thank you.
