Clubs get social with public

The Durango High Noon Rotary Club, Daybreak Rotary Club, Rotary Club of Durango and Interact Club held an ice-cream social Wednesday afternoon at Rotary Park. The clubs are trying to raise public awareness of their work and to give people a chance to meet members. Jo Ann and Ken Beegles look over a tent with enough supplies to feed and shelter up to six people. The tent can be air-dropped into disaster areas, said Ward Holmes of High Noon Rotary. The local clubs purchased several tents, which cost $1,000 a piece, and donated them to Rotary International, which will use them to help in disaster areas.
