A semitrailer carrying coal rolled and spilled its load Monday at Colorado Highway 140 and Wildcat Canyon Road (County Road 141).
Early Monday evening, the Fort Lewis Mesa Fire Protection District said highway cleanup was still underway. Snow had begun falling, and drivers were asked to drive carefully.
The truck, southbound on Highway 140, was on its right side blocking that lane into the afternoon. One person had minor injuries.
A U.S. Transport company truck was hauling coal for King Coal, which operates a mine southwest of Hesperus.
The Southern Ute Police Department is handling the accident. The tribal police did not return a phone call seeking further details.
Traffic alternated on one open lane while crews cleaned up spilled coal from the shoulder. At some point on Monday, the highway would have to be closed to right the semitrailer, said Capt. Adrian Driscoll with the Colorado State Patrol.
