College Avenue plans make no sense

Will all the citizens of Durango please stop using the phrase “How stupid can you get?” because apparently this City Council is taking this phrase as a challenge. They have, and are, proving that there is no limit to the level of stupidity involved in their outrageous and unbelievable ideas and decisions.

While it is commendable that they support our marijuana industry to the great extent they obviously do, it might be better if they limited that habit somewhat. When did multi-module become bicycles only? Why are automobile lanes being sacrificed to build bigger bicycle lanes? How can eliminating automobile lanes relieve congestion?

Does Durango really want to reduce one of the only entrances to the city, at 8th Avenue and College Drive, to one lane each direction with a turn lane? You think it is bad now, just wait until they “fix” it!

Hopefully, it won’t be someone you care about who dies because the ambulance was stuck in traffic. Maybe it will be the “other guy” whose house is destroyed because the firetruck wasn’t able to respond in time to protect it. Was the tourist population polled to see how much of this idiocy they will tolerate before deciding to visit more welcoming towns?

I’m embarrassed that we elected these people and actually expected them to make rational decisions.
