Colorado chief medical officer Wolk to step down

DENVER – Colorado’s chief medical officer will step down at the end of the month.

Gov. John Hickenlooper’s office announced Dr. Larry Wolk’s upcoming resignation Friday. Wolk is executive director and chief medical officer at the Department of Public Health and Environment.

The Denver Post reports Wolk is leaving to become chief medical officer at the Wonderful Co. in Santa Monica, California. The company’s products include pomegranate juice and pistachios.

Wolk joined Hickenlooper’s Cabinet in 2013. Hickenlooper says Wolk has helped Colorado address challenges including marijuana legalization and increasing oil and gas development.
