Colorado Connections Academy @ Durango opens enrollment

Students enrolled in Colorado Connections Academy schools receive needed materials from the school.

Enrollment is officially open for Colorado Connections Academy @ Durango for the 2017-18 school year.

An information session will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 10, at the DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio.

Colorado Connections Academy is a network of full-time, tuition-free statewide online public schools. Colorado Connections Academy @ Durango, which opened in the 2016-17 school year, is authorized by Durango School District 9-R and serves approximately 300 students in grades K-10. The academy will expand to include 11th-grade students in the 2017-18 school year and 12th grade the next year.

The academy offers an individualized approach to learning that combines state-certified teachers, an award-winning curriculum, technology tools and socialization opportunities.

The flexibility of Colorado Connections Academy schools allows students to take advantage of extracurricular or community activities, and students are encouraged to find and explore interests outside of the classroom that build confidence and character.

This non-traditional learning environment can be a good fit for all types of students, including those who are significantly ahead or behind in the classroom, need a flexible schedule or more individualized attention, or live in isolated rural settings. Homebound and previously home-schooled students can also thrive in the academy’s programs.
