SAN LUIS – A police officer in southern Colorado is hospitalized in stable condition after being shot multiple times while responding to a burglary call.
The Costilla County Sheriff’s Office says the incident occurred shortly after 4 a.m. Wednesday at a rural residential area near Fort Garland but no other details were released.
The Sheriff’s Office says the officer was taken to the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center.
The name of the deputy was not released, and no details were released about the shooting or any suspects.
