Colorado Highway 172 reopens south of Ignacio after motorcycle crash

Colorado Highway 172 about two miles south of Ignacio reopened about 7:30 p.m. Sunday after it had been closed for a single motorcycle crash, said Lisa Schwantes, spokeswoman with Region 5 of the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Schwantes said she had no information on the crash, but added CDOT reopened Highway 172 once the Colorado State Patrol had completed its on-scene investigation.

A crash involving a single motorcycle around 5:20 p.m. initially had closed Highway 172 about two miles south of Ignacio, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

As of 7:05 p.m., Trooper Tim Sutherland, a public information officer with Colorado State Patrol on the Front Range, said he had no further details of the accident, and he was waiting for an incident report to be filed on the crash.
