First Southwest Community Fund, an area nonprofit, has received a Rural Business Development Grant for Colorado Quinoa, a business that receives quinoa from small, organic farmers in the San Luis Valley.
The nonprofit applied for the grant through the U.S. Department of Agriculture on behalf of Colorado Quinoa.
With the grant funding, Colorado Quinoa plans to hire seven full-time employees, increase processing capacity safely and efficiently, expand online sales and research sustainable and efficient agricultural practices.
