Colorado voters should participate in June primary

Did you know that there will be a primary in June for us in Colorado? The primary ballot, mailed June 8, will select the final candidates to represent either the Democratic or Republican Party in the November general election.

Those affiliated as Democrats, Republicans or independents can vote in June on nominations for U.S. senator, U.S. House of Representatives, governor, attorney general and secretary of state. Both parties have more than one hopeful candidate for these offices, and we must choose wisely.

On the Democratic side, we have two candidates for governor: incumbent U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet and term-limited Attorney General Phil Weiser. Bennet has a senate seat until at least 2028, when he is up for reelection. Weiser has nowhere to go; he cannot stay as AG no matter how well we all think he has done.

But we are fortunate because we can have both. Bennet can fulfill the term we all just elected him to in 2024, and Weiser can do a phenomenal job as our well-prepared Colorado governor.

We can choose wisely.
