Column did not help heal public divide

In April of 2008, Barack Obama was caught in an uncharacteristic moment of loose language.

Referring to working-class voters in old industrial towns decimated by job losses, the presidential hopeful said: “They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

The castigation by liberals of voters that supported President Trump continues with the Tom Givon column in the Herald (Sept. 9-10).

In a thinly veiled attempt to tie uneducated voters that supported Hitler to the voters that elected Trump, Givon continues the attack.

The Herald, along with the vast majority of the media, continues to publish byline columns as well as letters to the editor demeaning Trump voters.

Attack Trump for his policies and demeanor all you want, but quit attacking the people that chose not to vote for the progressive candidate that promised us Obama’s third term.

The constant attacks by the left do nothing but deepen the public divide.
