Come together to honor God and country

After 240 years of independence from British rule; The United States of America! What liberty we have! We are so blessed!

When I was in elementary school, we said the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag every day. By the time I was a junior in high school, saying the Pledge was optional. The school gave us a 45 to 60 second option to stand up and say our Pledge. In a class of 20 people, two of us stood up and said our Pledge of Allegiance.

Personally, I feel a sense of admiration and honor and respect when I say our Pledge to the flag. My heart swells with emotion and pride when I hear our National Anthem.

I wonder, what if all Americans represented, showed off, supported and loved our flag every day like we do on Independence Day? What if our towns and cities displayed our American flag on every street lamp and pole every day?

What if the White House were colored in red, white and blue every evening when the sun goes down? What if we heard the National Anthem and said the Pledge of Allegiance every day? Would we treat each other with such disrespect? Would we treat our country with such loathing and contempt? Would we see so many protests in the streets? What if we came together as Americans to honor God, our country, our flag and each other in our hearts every day? That would look like liberty!
