There will be a Community Cares 5K held Feb. 22 in Durango on the Animas River Trail.

The event is free, but there is a suggested donation of $10 to support lifelong Durango resident Chad Rush, who was recently diagnosed with a rare medical condition. Because of the severity of his condition, Rush was flown to Denver for treatment. The proud husband and father of three will remain in Denver for treatment. All donation proceeds will go directly to the Rush family.

Along with a 5-kilometer run, the Community Cares 5K event will also have a 1-mile fun run at 10 a.m. followed by the 5K at 10:45 a.m. All are welcome whether they walk, jog or run.
