Community college starts medical imaging training

Course offerings will expand this fall when Southwest Colorado Community College (SCCC) adds new certificate programs in medical imaging at its east campus in Durango.

SCCC will add certificate programs in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT). These are professional development opportunities for registered radiologic technologists. Both classes will be offered primarily online through Pueblo Community College with the exception of clinical experience components.

The new programs start this fall semester with classes beginning Aug. 24, with enrollment open now and priority registration ending Aug. 7.

At program completion, students will be eligible for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Registry Exam. AART sets standards in the field and creates examination procedures, ethical standards and continuing education requirements.
