Community Concert Hall to host season kick-off party

The Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College, for the first time in its history, will host a Season Kick-off Party, offering those who attend the event the opportunity to purchase tickets for the "best" seats in the house for the 2014-2015 season in advance of ticket sales opening to the public.

The kick-off party is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1 at the Durango Welcome Center, 802 Main Ave. The welcome center houses the concert hall's downtown ticket office.

In addition to the advance ticket sales opportunity, party attendees can enjoy a free hot dog lunch, live music by local acoustic group Ace Revel and opportunity drawings for free show tickets.

"We've got a great season line up for 2014-2015 and we wanted to do something special to get the whole thing started and reward our loyal concert hall supporters," said Charles Leslie, concert hall director. "Tickets will go on sale on-line at 2 p.m. on July 1. Come to the welcome center early and get the best seats."

In addition to the season sales, patrons who sign up as a member of the concert hall by July 1 will be entered into a larger drawing that includes two tickets to any concert hall-produced show during the 2014-2015 season, plus dinner for two prior to that show at El Moro Spirits and Tavern.

"We're calling it our 'Member Madness Drawing,'" added Leslie, noting that actual ticket sales cover less than one-third of the cost to operate the concert hall, so memberships are important. "Memberships start at $50 annually and every contribution helps our effort to maintain a high-quality venue and bring an exciting line-up of shows each year. We have quite a few benefits for members spread throughout the year, above and beyond this dinner and show opportunity."

The Member Madness Drawing will be held July 2 and entrants need not be present to win. Community members can sign up for membership at the Kick-off Party on July 1, or visit www.durangoconcerts.com and click on "Support."

The Community Concert Hall is a not-for-profit, multi-use performance venue located on the campus of Fort Lewis College. Its ability to bring a diverse spectrum of shows to Southwest Colorado is made possible through a partnership with the college, a state-supported, independent institution of higher education, and financial and in-kind contributions from generous members of the community.
