Community meeting to be held at 1:30 p.m.

A panoramic view at dawn Friday, taken from the rim of College Mesa, reveals contaminated water running through town in the Animas River. The contamination is from a mine blow-out that took place at Gold King Mine north of Silverton on Wednesday.

The Environmental Protection Agency will hold a public meeting at 1:30 p.m. today to share information and answer questions about the contamination of the Animas River by the Gold King Mine. The meeting will be held in the Board Room of the County Administration Building at 1101 East Second Ave. Shaun McGrath, the Regional Administrator for the EPA Region 8, from Denver will be hosting this meeting.
