Bill Hermesman, Durango resident from childhood and owner of Northpoint Home Furnishings, hopes to celebrate his favorite season by giving away mattresses and pillow sets to the community that raised and supported him throughout the years.
“When I was a kid, I had a great aunt named Wemo,” said Hermesman. “She was the most giving person I’ve known, and I want to carry that on. Once a month, I usually like to do something really cool to help someone.”
Hermesman will deliver a free mattress or pair of memory foam pillows, new from the store, to 24 winners. Winners will be chosen from handwritten nominations submitted at the store by community members.
Requirements for submissions include:
Nominations must be for Durango residents; people can nominate themselves or another community member. Nominations must be handwritten and include first, last name; residential address; and phone number.Nominations must be delivered in-person to the front desk of Northpoint Home Furnishings, 1315 Main Ave., Suite 103.“There’s no strings attached,” said Hermesman. “It’s hard to make a living in Durango and make everything work. I’ve been blessed, so I want to give back. I often have people come into the store and I can tell that they need a mattress but can’t afford one.”
Northpoint Home Furnishings staff will read letters and determine the 24 winners who will receive a mattress or set of pillows.
The store will give away 12 Serta Perfect Sleeper mattresses and 12 memory-foam pillow sets this holiday season.
Chosen winners will receive a phone call before delivery takes place.
